15 Chicago Lakefront 50K 03/23/13 Chicago IL 8:25 50 km         I accomplished my goal of completing more races of marathon distance or more (58) than my age (57). This was my worst ultra-marathon time ever - it goes to show what happens when you barely train for a race!
14 Lakefront 50K 10/27/12 Chicago IL 7:54 50 km         This was the tenth ultra-marathon (2 50 milers/8 50 Ks) that I have completed
13 Chicago Marathon 10/07/12 Chicago IL 6:23:28 Marathon         23rd Chicago Marathon completed
12 Lakefront 50K 03/31/12 Chicago IL 7:44:45 50 km 11       The weather was a lot nicer than last year's spring 50K, although my time was not much of an improvement due to a relative lack of training. This will give me a chance to work for a lot better time for the fall version of this race!
11 Lakefront 50K 10/30/11 Chicago IL 7:38:45 50 km 205       Nicer weather than the Chicago Marathon three weeks earlier, but I should have trained more...I took the idea of tapering after the Chicago Marathon a little too seriously, and as a result I had my second worst 50K time ever
10 Chicago Marathon 10/09/11 Chicago IL 6:14:25 Marathon         It was again too hot for the Chicago Marathon, but almost everyone survived. I spoke to Maniacs from Washington, D.C. and New York during the race
9 Chicago Lakefront 50K 03/26/11 Chicago IL 7:49 50 km 55       it was a tough day along Lake Michigan, with the wind chill being 12 at the start of the race -there were very strong winds from the North the whole race - if I did not finish last, it was because someone started early - because my time was 7+ hours, I do not have an official time
8 Sedona Marathon 02/12/11 Sedona AZ 6:41:02 Marathon 389 162/ 167     I saw several other Maniacs at the race, proudly wearing their tee-shirts. This was my hardest (and slowest) marathon to date, because of the altitude, the hills, and frankly because of my relative lack of training
7 Chicago Lakefront 50/50 10/30/10 Chicago IL 12:58 50 mi 55       I saw one runner wearing a Marathon Maniac shirt. This was the 50th race that I completed of marathon distance or more - 44 marathons, 4 50Ks and 2 50 mile races. This was probably my last 50 mile race!!!
6 Chicago Marathon 10/10/10 Chicago IL 6:29:43 Marathon 45503       Worst marathon time by half an hour...but I did meet Main Maniacs # 1, # 2 and # 3 after the race...this was my 21st Chicago Marathon completed, my 25th Illinois marathon completed, and my 44th marathon completed overall
5 Lakefront 50K 03/27/10 Chicago IL 6:55:16 50 km 54       It was a very windy day along the Chicago Lakefront, but otherwise the conditions were good. I saw about 5 other Maniacs "showing their colors" but I know that there were several of us who did not wear a Maniacs shirt. I only wear my shirt to Marathon distances...
4 Austin Marathon 02/14/10 Austin TX 5:54:16 Marathon 1992       A tough and hilly course - I saw 4 other Maniacs along the way...one woman from Salt Lake City, one woman from San Antonio, Brian from D.C., and Jim from California who has run about 40 California marathons(!!!)
3 Bayshore Michigan 05/23/09 Traverse City MI 5:32 Marathon 343       Saw about three or four other Maniacs for this race, including another inspirational runner (walker?), Chester Kalb # 256, who has done a lot of marathons lately
2 The Illinois Marathon 04/11/09 Champaign-Urbana IL 5:39:00 Marathon 823       A very well run marathon, considering this was the inaugural event. I saw a lot of fellow Maniacs there, proudly sporting their shirts
1 Lakefront 50K 04/04/09 Chicago IL 7:01:00 50 km 53       It was just a training run for the Illinois Marathon the following Saturday...and I met Larry Macon (Maniac # 120) who makes almost every other Maniac look like an amateur
