56 Gorge Waterfalls 03/30/13 Cascade Locks OR 5:31:26 50 km 247 126/ 281     Beautiful! Perfect weather & a great course (+beer & pizza at the finish)!
55 Capitol Peak Mega Fat Ass 01/19/13 Olympia WA 6:46:05 55 km   8/ 25 8/ 18   Beautiful day out on Cap. Peak, up on top all 5 WA state volcanoes were visible, and the the temps felt 25 degrees warmer than below the cloud line. I didn't feel great but good enough for a fun day on the trails (and good enough for a shot of tequila at mile 22 :-)
54 Seattle Marathon 11/25/12 Seattle WA 3:28:18 Marathon 1956 264/ 2742 221/ 1411 37/ 219 New PR! Free entry! (other wise I would have ran any of the other races in the Seattle area that weekend)Great running weather. Ran the majority w/ Ryan McKnight who was celebrating his 40th b-day!
53 Issaquah Alps 50K 11/11/12 Issaquah WA 8:06 50 km   8/ 12     Rob put on a great race, I took it easy and ran w/ Ryan McKnight who had run the Ron Herzog 50K the day before... 8200ft. of elevation gain! Awesome!
52 Baker Lake 10/06/12 Baker Lake USA 5:33:44 50 km 143 18/ 115     What an amazingly beautiful day to be out on the trails. Great support out there too despite giving us all the race for free! I was a total of 28 seconds slower than last year, but one place ahead :-)
51 Cascade Crest 08/25/12 Easton WA 28:20:39 100 mi 119 51/ 98     https://www.facebook.com/notes/nic-plemel/ccc100-summarizing-the-insurmountable/10151754194906165
50 Lumberjack 100 04/21/12 Port Gamble WA 27:23:00 100 mi 313 13/ 17     Youch! 50 races of marathon or longer! Great course, great volunteers, great fun... when it was fun :) I hope to be back out there next year to work on that time. Got to cross the finish line with Tracy after she helped drag me on those forest roads!
49 Fishline 02/12/12 Port Gamble WA 5:05:30 50 km   4/ 4 3/ 3   Ran the first loop with Alex Swenson (he's too fast), ran the second on my own significantly slower. Another great run put on by the Roots Rock folks!
48 Wishbone Run 11/25/11 Gig Harbor WA 4:29:43 27.4 mi 866       Bills run = always great. Excellent course. Excellent company. Excellent pancakes. What more could one ask for?
47 Carkeek 12 Hour 10/29/11 Seattle WA   45.47 mi 43       23 'big' loops + two of the new mini loops = 10000 ft. of elevation. Sam & Brock once again do a great job with what is probably my favorite race in Seattle city limits!
46 Baker Lake 10/01/11 Baker Lake WA 5:33:16 50 km 124 19/ 121 18   Okay, now I feel like I'm actually back on track and this was the perfect trail to get to that point, rolling and soft, and in the perfect temps. to boot! The RDs did a great job with the aid that was available & the course was great. I'll hope to run there again in the future.
45 Fat Glass 08/06/11 Kirkland WA 6:15:11 50 km 1 2/ 4 2/ 2   This was an awesome event that far too many people missed out on. 6 loops around Bridle Trails (+ a little neighborhood trail), each loop preceded with 16oz. of Mac'n'Jaks African Ale. I even walked away with an etched glass mug that read "Queen of Beers" (it was meant for the first place female who also drank, but said finisher didn't exist, thus, me)!
44 Green River Marathon 06/04/11 Kent to Seattle WA 4:31:05 Marathon   62/ 140     Miraculously, this is not my worst marathon ever (of course I got lost on the the "worst" one and it was a bit long) - I came into this race completely untrained and under prepared, but never-the-less had a good time running it... just really slowly is all... the next one will be better (I'm training again!), and that was really the point, just get up and go. Thanks, as always, to Steve & his wonderful volunteers!
43 Dizzy Daze 03/26/11 Seattle WA 5:26 50 km 79       Thought you got rid of me, huh? Thanks to Matt & Betsy for dragging me out from under my rock and hosting a great race. I felt surprisingly good after neglecting training for a good 3 months or so... see you all again when the kid gives me a hall pass!
42 Wishbone Run 11/27/10 Gig Harbor WA 5:06:58 27.4 mi 211       It was Bill's run, what needs to be said? You can expect a great low key time and he'll always deliver (plus: pancakes)!
41 First Call Veterans Day 11/13/10 Bothell WA 5:04:41 50 km 503       As usual Adrian and crew put on a great race with a laid back atmosphere.
40 Carkeek 12 Hour 10/30/10 Seattle WA   40.53 mi         (not intentionally done, but as it turns out...) 40 miles for number 40. Carkeek was a grand ole time as usual.
39 Where's Waldo 08/21/10 Willamette Ski Pass OR 16:01:50 100 km 149 80/ 107     Uggh... I found Waldo, then Waldo proceeded to kick my ass. The race was very well organized, with great support and an awesome course, but man, did I get destroyed out there...
38 Vashon Island Ultra 06/26/10 Vashon WA 5:04:40 50 km 538 8/ 40     A really great first year event with good support & schwag. I enjoyed getting a chance to run on Vashon's elusive trails, and generally felt good the entire race. I hope they continue to do this race the same day as Seattle R'n'R, it was nice to have an option that didn't involve 27,000 runners, blaring 'rock' bands, and too much asphalt.
37 Green River Marathon 06/05/10 Kent to Seattle WA 3:42:40 Marathon 245 19/ 149     As usual Steve put's on a hell of a race - and the price can't be beat!
36 Redmond Watershed Preserve 12HR 05/15/10 Redmond WA 11:21:20 59.13 mi 73 16/ 106     A great, well organized race with lots of friendly & familiar faces! Andre (#764) paced me for the final 26+ miles and kept me sane through the loops. Can't wait for next year!
35 Tacoma City Marathon 05/02/10 Tacoma WA 3:51:33 Marathon 370 119/ 391     1st road race since Sept. and I know why... having said that, nice course with lots of familiar faces & well organized. A bit slower than I would have preferred, but whatever, I had a fun time.
34 Lord Hill 03/07/10 Snohomish WA 6:26:32 50 km 58 4/ 21     A great course with plenty of up and down.
33 Capitol Peak Mega Fat Ass 01/16/10 Olympia WA 6:42:00 30 mi         Got really, really, embarrassingly lost - but other than that, I had a grand old time :-)
32 Bridle Trails 01/09/10 Kirkland WA 5:39 50 km 48       I <3 Bridle Trails!
31 Doppler 50K 11/22/09 Bremerton WA 6:46:23 50 km         I really enjoyed these trails (creeks?) - a light dusting of snow on the ground, puddles everywhere, & mud - what more could you ask for?!? Ran the whole race (plus a little 'extra credit') with Eric Barnes and had a great time - "unavoidable!"
30 Carkeek 12 Hour 10/31/09 Seattle WA 11:40 48.25 mi 4       25 loops with approximately 10,750 ft. of total elevation gain. Ended up being great weather & a great time. Ran the first 25 miles or so with Terry (he's too fast for me!) and ran the rest with whom ever was in the vicinity ;-)
29 Hundred in the Hood 09/26/09 Mt. Hood OR 28:56:19 100 mi 95 80/ 87     Amazing. The first 30 flew by, 30-65 were good, 65-80 were alright,80-85 were bad, 85-97 I just did what the (very kind and helpful) runners in front of me told me to do, 97-100 (which if I heard right was actually something like 101.9) I bit my bottom lip and just went for broke (which is to say, I shuffled more than walked ;-)
28 Michelle's Grande Ass Marathon 09/06/09 Puyallup to Tacoma WA 4:36 Marathon 33       Eric, Michelle & Steve once again did a great job - huzzah for them and huzzah for free races with lots of friendly faces! I had a rough day as far as running goes, but a grand(e) old time any damn way!
27 STORMY 08/07/09 Squamish BC 29:53:05 100 mi 5929 21/ 22     Wow! What an experience, the first 50 felt great, very manageable pace. From 50 miles 'til day light ran with MM #542 & "John." Started to feel blisters the second time up 9 mile hill (~80 miles in), came down slowly but got bandaged up with 7 miles left. Finished with a smile on my face to the cheers of many a fellow Maniac! One week after and here I am wondering when the next 100 is :-)
26 White River 50 07/25/09 Crystal Mountain WA 12:40:30 50 mi 37 151/ 166     Yeesh! Both legs totally cramped up prior to getting 10 mile down (up) the trail - S!Caps kinda, sorta saved my race, with out them I was a DNF no doubt. Tough day physically but I learned 2 very important things, (a) I actually *can* cramp (b) I can suffer for a good 40 miles + and still finish, that should come in handy for longer distances, like, say, 100 miles :-)
25 Green River Marathon 06/06/09 Kent to Seattle WA 3:29:39 Marathon 171 19/ 145     Lost a friend to Leukemia the day before - my race totally dedicated to him. Ran a little more than the first half with Pete Nicholson (MM#207). Kept an even pace *almost* the entire race, really started to feel beat down around mile 23 - almost ditched the 3:30 goal but mental clarity and focus returned - pushed hard the final 2 miles, ignored the pain, and thought of my friend - I'll miss you Stever.
24 Mt. Si Ultra 04/19/09 Snoqualmie WA 9:05:26 50 mi 39 31/ 48     Not too bad, all things considered... managed to drop 17 minutes off last years time despite having not run for the previous 3 weeks. The course got pretty old pretty fast this year, but I'll probably find myself out there again next year using the race as some sort of yard stick... completely separate from all that, did you all see Van out there!?! 150 miles one week, a 50K the next!!! Amazing! Great to see her and all the other Maniacs enjoying a beautiful day.
23 Dizzy Daze 03/28/09 Seattle WA 5:42 50 km 27       I set out to do 100K but after 10 wet and cold loops I was through - I came unprepared and suffered the consequences. Never the less, the race was once again top notch, JB and volunteers did a great job and it's always fun to be surrounded by so many Maniacs - I look forward to doing it again next year.
22 Valentine Marathon 02/08/09 Olympia WA 3:41:30 Marathon 856       My 'perceived effort' didn't quite match up with my time but never-the-less, I had a good run with good company - Andre (who free-styled for us) for the first half and Matt (and his pinned on motivation) the whole way through. 13 in 12 weeks! I guess now I'll have to return to my rightful place as a mini-maniac - congrats to Eric Barnes who also completed his '13 in 12' (we ran all the same races except for our #12s)! ***Also, no more Bob Green Marathons - ever***
21 West Seattle Fat Ass 02/01/09 Seattle WA 5:22:55 50 km 20       My first go as a race director *almost* went off with out a hitch (sorry runners - I honestly believed the parking lot would be open). My nerves carried me through the first out of the two out and backs, after that I was Gu dependent. The course was 'faster' than my time reflects, but I took it easy trying to run and manage the race at the same time. Thanks to all the Maniacs who came out and ran - unless the MN Vikings make it to the Super Bowl (don't worry, they won't) plan for a 2010 event!
20 Yours Truly (Cedar River) 01/25/09 Maple Valley WA 6:02:38 50 km   4/ 8     Wow... talk about a BONK, a personal worst (by over 40 minutes - the day after a 50K PR)... I felt bad from the moment I started running - I probably allowed myself to do worse than I should have - I was able to finally get out of my head on the final 'back' of the 4 out'n'backs and run the remainder with Eric Barnes. Regardless of my failings, race director Brian did an excellent job and I'm glad he put this together once again. 3rd double!
19 Pigtail's Run 01/24/09 Renton WA 4:44 50 km 3 7/ 49 7   Went out with the intentions of getting a 50K PR and that's what I did... by 13 minutes(!!!) MM #764 unknowingly kept me pushing by either setting a strong pace ahead of me or being hot on my heals. As usual, Pigtails put on a great race!
18 Capitol Peak Mega Fat Ass 01/17/09 Olympia WA 5:18 30 mi   22/ 35     Perfect day for running - fog in the morning, then clear, sunny skies... snow, mud, rocks, rushing water - what else would you want on a trail run? I went out too fast and continued to push harder than I should have the first half of the second loop, with 10K remaining I pretty much feel apart... oh well, lesson taught (lesson learned? we'll see...)
17 Bridle Trails 01/10/09 Kirkland WA 5:17:46 50 km 42 22/ 50     A-W-E-S-O-M-E! So much fun it should have been illegal! I had a blast out there... remember 'if you don't run through the center of the mud and puddles, you're a DNF' ;-) Seriously though, how much fun was that?!? (the race had 77 Starters, 50 Finishers !?!)
16 First Call to Run 01/01/09 Bothell WA 5:14:12 50 km 227 5/ 14     My second double! Felt 10 times better than I did the day before... go figure? Saw a few bald Eagles and a few Hawks, and enjoyed the trail (path) for what it was. Great support and even better post race buffet! Thanks for the great start to '09 Adrian!
15 Last Chance 12/31/08 Bellingham WA 4:08:39 Marathon 81       I got in my head early and didn't really crawl back out 'til I was eating a finish line burrito... oh well, there's still nothing I would have rather been doing with the last morning of 2008! I'm told the course is long but I have no idea how much longer than 26.2 it was, I'm sure it wasn't 'long' enough to justify my time :-) Thanks to Mary and all the great volunteers!
14 Pigtails Flat Ass 12/20/08 Renton WA 5:11:10 50 km 58 6/ 22     Snowy - cold- fun! What better way to get out of the house and stretch those legs that had been suffering from cabin fever... Van (and volunteers) did an out standing job & the medal is one of the best I've seen!
13 Birch Bay Ghost Marathon 12/13/08 Birch Bay WA 3:40:23 Marathon 24 11/ 33 9/ 19   Rode up with Eric Barnes... Chilly morning, beautiful views of the bay and mountains for the first 15 miles or so, wind really started kicking during the second loop and kept up 'til the end. Scott the RD does a great job, great post race grub and fun goody bags and medals provided by the wonderful Lenore Dolphin. My time didn't match my effort (thought for sure I had a PR coming my way) but oh well, had a great run and I'm already looking forward to next year.
12 Seattle Marathon 11/30/08 Seattle WA 4:02:43 Marathon 1843 624   85/ 177 Personal worst... but only by about 5 and a half minutes, so really not too bad for the 3rd in 3 days... WooHoo 5 stars! 10 minutes from finish line to Mecca for Chicken Fried Steak!
11 Ghost of Seattle 11/29/08 Seattle WA 4:57:30 50 km 79 5/ 8 3/ 4   50K PR!?! This proves PRs are possible when you set the bar low enough :-) Great support and lots of fun seeing Maniacs over & over & over & over...
10 Wishbone Run 11/28/08 Gig Harbor WA 4:29:45 27.4 mi 176 9 6   Nice 'little' run... glad I got to start off the 3 in 3 on trails... and pancakes at the end! Thanks Bill (Hotrod).
9 Michelle's Grande Ass Marathon 08/31/08 Puyallup WA 3:37:40 Marathon 20 2 2 2 New PR! Second over all! Had a great time out there, ran with Phil Kriss (#289) for the first 15 (or so) attempted to chase down Steve Walters the rest of the way (no such luck). Thanks Michelle and Eric, this was a stellar example of what a 'fat ass' can be (w/ great schwag too)!
8 White River 50 07/26/08 Crystal Mountain WA 11:52:28 50 mi 179 172/ 202     Awesome (the race... not so much my time)
7 Rattlesnake Lake Marathon 07/06/08 Cedar Falls WA 3:57:23 Marathon 3 16/ 51     I was slow (and I'm not entirely sure why), oh well... it was still a good day and it earned me an extra star, so that's something. Thanks Brian and Monte!
6 Grandma's Marathon 06/21/08 Duluth MN 3:56:40 Marathon 802 1521 1252 509 Heat, humidity... I miss WA ;-)
5 Green River Marathon 06/07/08 Kent to Seattle WA 3:48:09 Marathon   32/ 138     Great way to spend a Saturday morning... thanks Steve for putting on a great (free!) race.
4 Mt Si Ultra 04/13/08 North Bend WA 9:21:53 50 mi 63 37/ 50     That was fun... more please! (qualified for the Maniacs with this race!)
3 Green Lake Dizzy Daze 03/29/08 Seattle WA 5:13 50 km 26 8/ 33     ...round & round & round... good times...
2 Yours Truly 02/24/08 Maple Valley WA 5:06:07 50 km   3/ 15     1st Ultra... what a great (low key) time...
1 Seattle Marathon 11/25/07 Seattle WA 3:49:30 Marathon 1536 465     1st marathon distance... so it begins...
