30 Big Wild Life Marathon 08/19/12 Anchorage AK 4:03:56 Marathon 317 126/ 331 96/ 196 12/ 25 Rained a bit at the beginning, and I didn't keep pace worth a damn, but got 'er done! Just missed a sub 4 by 3 minutes! 21 states
29 Holualoa Tucson Marathon 12/11/11 Tucson AZ 3:45:27 Marathon 930 305/ 971 232/ 569 32/ 87 Tough finish, but did the best I could. Beat last year by 8 minutes, at least. P.R!
28 Mt. Desert Island Marathon 10/16/11 Bar Harbor ME 3:57:11 Marathon 334 218/ 924 172/ 467   Much more difficult than I anticipated, but a great racing experience! R.D. Gary Allen (MM #59)makes it special! State #20!
27 Coeur D'Alene Marathon 05/29/11 Coeur D'Alene ID 3:47:35 Marathon 497 121/ 503 84/ 254   Very tough course, but perfect weather in a great resort! 19th state, and a P.R.!
26 Ghost Town 38.5 01/16/11 Hillsboro NM 8:05:06 38.5 mi 68 22/ 76     Quite challenging Ultra at 5,000-7500 feet. Trail run very rocky and technical. Beautiful scenery even when it's hard to breath! Although I found the altitude to be the least of my difficulty. The course was very technical. State #18!
25 Holualoa Marathon 12/12/10 Tucson AZ 3:53:14 Marathon 905 308/ 1075 225/ 597 49/ 117 Very nice downhill course til about mile 17, and deadly uphill on mile 25! I so overdid the first half and paid for it at the end! Not a strong finish. Very well run though! Signed up again for 2011!
24 Towpath Marathon 10/10/10 Akron OH 4:13:23 Marathon 629 211/ 600   42/ 77 Nice course, but got quite warm by the end. Not trained well enough. But 16 states!
23 Cellcom Green Bay Marathon 05/16/10 Green Bay WI 3:56:02 Marathon 1258 677/ 1790   94/ 171 Great event! Perfect weather and organization. I, however, was way too ambitious and thought I'd pull off a B.Q. without running enough. Highly recommended. Great to finish running a lap at Lambeau Field! Few maniacs though! State #15
22 Cowtown 50K 02/27/10 Ft. Worth TX 5:05:43 50 km 2103 68/ 213   9/ 13 My 1st Ultra. Weather was perfect, but Cowtown is hilly! The thought of a post race double Dirty Love Burger from The Love Shack kept me going! It was great to be just a half hour from home. Also ran with several maniacs there.
21 Bank Trust 1st Light Marathon 01/10/10 Mobile AL 4:28:55 Marathon 2279 219/ 437 181/ 305 32/ 51 Paid for Mississippi Blues the day before. Ran with several Maniacs. Very tough course, but very nice scenery through old southern homes. Unbelievably cold again. Quite windy as well. My second double weekend in 3 months! The individually hand crafted medal was a circular piece of wood with a sticker on it! ;-( Still found the Mobile Hooters afterwards!
20 Mississippi Blues Marathon 01/09/10 Jackson MS 3:58:58 Marathon 277 152/ 558 127/ 360 30/ 58 What a great, but frigid experience! 9 degree windchill! Amazingly enough, I enjoyed it! Exceptionally Hilly throughout. Cold weather is my friend. A great guitar shaped medal! Had a great burger and beer afterwards.
19 Kiawah Island Marathon 12/12/09 Kiawah Island SC 3:50:33 Marathon 5350 274/ 988   42/ ? Perfect weather and marathon. Flat and fast 2 loop course. Although the 2nd loop can be mentally taxing, if you let it. Surprisingly few Maniacs there. A 3 minute P.R.! & state #12
18 Steamtown Marathon 10/11/09 Scranton PA 4:18:23 Marathon 1996 1330/ 1889   144/ 175 Love this course! Especially the trails. A great BQ destination. I might have if I hadn't run Hartford the day before. Got a lift from Maniac Greg Leo #1158 who ran several miles of the race alongside me. This was my 1st double weekend, and I'm movin' on up! Iridium! State #11 In fact I liked it enough to try another one in January. Gonna get my redneck on and try Mississippi Blues Saturday & 1st Light-Mobile AL Sunday!
17 ING Hartford Marathon 10/10/09 Hartford CT 4:04:04 Marathon 2036 935/ 2287   121/ 230 A super race! Great weather, and a helpful staff. Excellent choice and was faster than I anticipated, but paid for it at Steamtown the next day! An even 10.
16 Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon 04/26/09 Oklahoma City OK 4:29:48 Marathon 837 844/ 2377 613/ 1452 84/ 154 Had a great sub 4 hour pace until we turned back into a 30 mph wind! Hot, humid and windy as hell. The 4 1/2 hour reign keeps happening. Ran with Alan Countryman fellow maniac #642 for a while. State #9
15 Little Rock Marathon 03/15/09 Little Rock AR 4:30:31 Marathon 402 673/ 1382 491/ 862 96/ 144 Tough course, but beautiful weather. Not enough training slowed the 2nd half, but maybe I'm a 4 1/2 hour guy. Met several Maniacs there! State #8!
14 White Rock Marathon 12/14/08 Dallas TX 4:30:0617 Marathon 1753 1904/ 3878 1397/ 2426 254 Pretty warm & windy. Ran the first half quite well, but died in the 2nd. Better next time. White Rock really is an outstanding marathon. Great venue with the start/ finish at American Airlines Center.
13 Athen's Classic Marathon 11/09/08 Athens   4:39:51 Marathon 4477       A remarkably difficult course but a rewarding finish in the original olympic stadium in Marathon.
12 Nature's Path Whidbey Island Marathon 04/13/08 Oak Harbor WA 4:33:27 Marathon 319 238/ 382 156/ 220   A very well run, small marathon. Beautiful scenery, but lots and lots of hills! Hard to train for it in Dallas.#7
11 ING New York Marathon 11/04/07 New York NY 4:23:51 Marathon 15896 19366/ 38607 14763/ 26072   Glad I did it...once. A bit overrated. A long day. #6
10 Lewis & Clark Marathon 09/16/07 St Charles MO 4:27:09 Marathon 2979 250   48 A nice, smaller marathon. Quite a bit of it was on a relatively soft trail. State #5
9 Rock n Roll Marathon 06/04/06 San Diego CA 4:34:20 Marathon 4026 6135/ 17756   592/ 1044 Hugely dissappointing. After hearing everyone talk about this event being the 1 marathon you Have to run. I found it poorly run, too crowded, etc. A poor use of a great city. Also suffered from Plantar badly.
8 Big Sur International Marathon 04/30/06 Carmel CA 4:25:13 Marathon 467 1374 979 161 Surprised I only shaved a couple of minutes from last year, but still an excellent experience! I'll certainly run it again!
7 Freescale Marathon 02/19/06 Austin TX 3:59:53 Marathon 4425 1685 1232   Finally broke 4 hours in 21 degree weather! I realize now, it was because it was downhill. Still a P.R.
6 White Rock Marathon 12/11/05 Dallas TX 4:12:32 Marathon 112 1101/ 3310   227/ 418 Another PR on the 2nd week! And was my intro to Maniac'dom. & my 8 year old son, Emerson met me 7 times around the course. Very rewarding!
5 Marathon of the Palm Beaches 12/04/05 West Palm Beach FL 4:19:37 Marathon 886 617/ 1600 246/ 446 47/ 77 P.R.! A decent come back with my first of two marathons in two weeks. And I went to high school and college in Florida, so I saw many friends over the weekend. #4
