The finish to my weekend version of the movie "Run Fat Boy Run", there were some left knee protests, little did I know but the end of the marathon was only the start of a much longer day than expected as my direct flight back to Edmonton got cancelled Sunday night because of weather in Alberta, re-routed - made it to Vancouver by mid-night, "slept" a few hours sprawled out on some chairs and caught a flight back home in the morning, 20th marathon of the year |

A very memorable first ultra in my home province of PEI and my first last place finish. When the legs felt heavy after 2 miles I knew I was in for a long day! A lot of up and down and twists and turns over uneven ground through the woods. The course was 2 loops, and I didn't stop too long at the mid-way point as temptation was high to pack it in early |

WOW! this course lived up to its billing as the "Highest Road Marathon in America", the elevation ranged from a "low" of 8400ft to a high of 9600 ft. The route was along a gravel/dirt forestry road in the Gravelly Range mountains outside of Ennis, MT. Would love to do it again, but it will not be the 2nd day of a double, which included a 6 hour drive between locations. |

One of my most memorable, first marathon in a war zone, one of the pre-race instructions was a reminder on what to do in case of a rocket attack!
Took on this one with little base training, but I figured it was probably my one and only chance to run one in Afghanistan and it was the first time they have a held a full marathon on base here. Got caught with my head down trudging along and narrowly missed a nasty interaction with some loose razor wire that was hanging from the fence. Struggled with stomach problems the first half, recovered in the 2nd running a negative split, The American troops did a great job putting it all together |

Figured I would miss out on this marathon anyway as I was supposed to work on Saturday, but late Friday was told to come in for Sunday instead. So, up at 2:30 AM Sat morning for the 4 hr drive to Bragg Creek, 3000 ft elevation trail run up the mountain and then back down, a PW , but a beautiful course, nice sweatshirt and the biggest medal I have ever seen at the finish. All things considered very happy with the results and the decison to "run the moose". |

WOW, as someone said "they don't call it the Rocky Mountains for nothing"! over 5000 ft up single track and back again, discovered this was a course for experienced trail runners, covered in dirt, blood, sweat, and snot after this one! fell at least 10 times, cut hand wide open while trying to break one fall. walked half of the 2nd half in an effort to stay upright, Will forever remember this race as "Face Plants Aplenty"! still it raised money for a great cause and RD and his wife very helpful.
