So nice to see my Pacific West Coast Maniacs... the Canadian ones AND our California ones... and they were mostly all here! Missed the turn around on the first loop because of my chatting! Then we were informed at the finish, the course was mile short!! Strong headwind on the way out for the "extra" mile loop made it that much more a "mental" game. it was great and am happy to be able to be part of the Maniacs. Best run for me in a long time! Happy Dance!

171 Spring 7 - Day 6 03/23/13 Belmont Shores CA 5:49:59 Marathon         Toughest race of series! Bad cold / Flu and throwing up last night. The friends got me through it. Enjoyed visiting with Trent andnthe tough road ahead for him. I understand more clearly what he must be enduring day after day! Jon said today it was like going to work. Packed our lunch and off for 6 hours - no lunch though....just snacks! Thought about Mike and tried to enjoy the moment for him.

165 Los Angeles Marathon 03/17/13 Los Angeles CA 5:14:00 Marathon 2431 10812/ 19511 3407/ 7761 294/ 609 Long day! 2 hrs in Dodger Stadium before run. Great crowds, support and course. Fun run with so many teens! That was great! Lots of green too! Great LA shirt. So much food before and during the run! Jon's hamstring made home suffer....but running Rodeo drive....worth the long walk back to our $10 parking.
164 Napa Valley Marathan 03/03/13 Napa CA 4:57 Marathon 1424       What a run to do when injured! Scenic beyond belief! 8 years I have waited to do this run! Can not wait to spend more time here! Biking is next! Gently rolling in some spots and beautiful weather to enjoy this slow run. 2:07 1/2 doing slow 9/1. Jon really hurting by 15 mile. Walked and savoured the postcard views and budding cherry blossoms! Barely made our flight! But on the couch enjoying a scone by 5pm. 5 out of 13 quest... Waiting for Sarah to arrive!

Why, I don't know...except the beauty of the locations and a great vacation to the beaches of LA! Jon's hamstring very bad. But we walked in with big smiles!
162 Arizona Marathon (IMS) 02/17/13 Peoria AZ 4:55:30 Marathon 373 249/ 306   13/ 17 A beautiful sunrise... thinking of our friend Mike today. Jon's hamstring was very bad. Walked from mile 17. Did 2:07 half. Love the start - indoors to keep warm, nice subdivision and good support on the course. PW for both of us... but we celebrated anyway and enjoyed our fun power walk together for Jon's 61st BD.

Weather was fabulous! Did a 9 minute run / walk with breaks whenever I felt like it. A wonderful way to enjoy the day. Jon's hamstring still bad...but 49'ers vs Ravens - great game!
160 Carlsbad Marathon 01/27/13 Carlsbad CA 4:44:17 Marathon 1195 944/ 1451 323/ 605 32/ 55 A successful day after much stress of worry about Jon's Hamstring and my Plantar issues... but even with Garmin issues and having to duck into the hotel to get my jacket, we did it! What great MMM friends we had to cheer us along... wow! Makes me happy to be going to Tacoma this year for the 10yr Anniversary! Ryan, Ed, Cheri, Shelley and others that I didn't recognize. Humbling -- a nice extended family! Then I ran into my cousin Stephen after over 10 years! Burger at Knockout Burger. A great day for one of our slowest and Jon's most difficult marathons yet.
159 Honolulu Marathon 12/09/12 Honolulu HI 4:27:01 Marathon 671 3067/ 24145 753/ 11530 91/ 1066 Glad I did this! My Plantar F gave me serious thought to DNS, but with perfect conditions, no time constraints and Ibupropen it got done! Smiled the whole way! Talked to Hawaii Tom and Jon and I took pictures... even a view of our wedding beach! Now I remember why I love this marathon... even if the start is over crowded without corrals and difficult to do a good time.... Teddy's burgers take out thanks to Jon and a red-eye back to Vancouver! 4:27:01 Pace 10:12
158 Malibu Marsthon 11/11/12 Malibu CA 4:09:23 Marathon 332 242/ 657 80/ 302 9/ 41 Day 2 of double! Many kinks throughout the day! No breakfast at hotel unless you paid, shuttle driver late, then lost and the race started 35 mins late. A beautiful running day, even with blisters. Jon ran very strong especially the last 5k. Fun running with Ron K, Deo. Thanks to Shelly for the great hand warmers at start, and to Ron for the ride tour hotel after no shuttle home for us! Venice Beach for a walk and then LAX to fly back to Vancouver. Epic double weekend!

154 Surrey Int'l Music Marathon 09/30/12 Surrey BC 3:42:16 Marathon 152 56/ 236 9/ 82 2/ 20 BQ 69 - Need a 3:55 -- yahoo! A perfect day... weather 9C-14C mainly sunny with cloud when needed. A race that could accommodate 1000's. The whole course dedicated running path. No cars to worry. 2 loops - some undulating with one longer uphill one. But very nice!! Medal's were huge and so much fun to run in sync with Jon. Every step of the way! Off to Bob's Burgers and California here we come! 10k 50:29 1/2 01:49:00
153 Montreal RnR Oasis Marathon 09/23/12 Montreal QC 4:03:10 Marathon 8064 1200/ 2684 175/ 740 18/ 84 Leg cramps and tight hamstring from the start.... note to self... STRETCH more! Lost Jon between 10-20km so we waited for each other for 5-8mins! There goes a BQ... but we finished together and our beautiful Sarah met us at the end. Beer, poutine, burger and a red-eye flight back to Vancouver.

Fun with Tracy who also BQ'd! Ran in with Jon - a great way to finish a stressful day/week before! Fun drive back to Vancouver.

Wanted to stay with the 4:15 bunny, but not my day. Still a great event with a plaque and medal and goodies at the finish.

The weather called for warm to hot, but the head wind made me soooo cold! Wore my long sleeve tech the whole time, but no gloves. One of my toughest challenges to finish. Almost quit a few times Half mark was 2:11. Jon ran every step with me. Great visit / weekend with Pete and on the road to BC right after the run Age/Grade: 55.61% Place: 1096

Pretty flat, nice scenery, easy start/finish - GREAT organization - hot pasta after too! Nice shirt and "patch" no medal. Tough to get in - must qualify for Boston times LESS 5 minutes! Lucky to make it!

Kept on pace with 3:40 group till then! Jon 3:39! Back to have burger with my girlfriend Sherri. Jon said it was the best birthday!
142 Surf City Marathon 02/05/12 Huntington Beach CA 3:53:00 Marathon 2364 588/ 2413 133/ 894 19/ 112 BQ #65 - Strong start, but mile 21 started to slide! Jon pulled off a 3:49 -- a week before his 60th BD! One of my all time favorite organized runs and Expo! So well done!! In N Out and back to PD to watch Giants when Patriots in Super Bowl. Great weather, great day!
141 Maui Oceanfront Marathon 01/21/12 Lahaina HI 4:17:21 Marathon 227 122/ 336   9/ 27 A fun run.... fast 1st half for us... but Jon struggled the 2nd half with the heat. A great professional event with excellent support and 18 aid stations. The finish is perfect spot to swim and regroup! Fun driving to Teddy's with the winner Chuck, Janet and Tanya. Memorable and fun!
140 Honolulu Marathon 12/11/11 Waikiki HI 4:11.01 Marathon 6638 1931/ 19078 415/ 8996 54/ 830 A great day! Weather was great, the sun held off till the finish. Watched 10hr finishers, young and old! Enjoyed Marsala's at end too! (Donuts) Both Jon and I came away wanting to come back! This is how to organize a big race! Teddy's Burgers rule!
139 Running off the Turkey Marathon 11/27/11 Huntington Beach CA 4:24:32 Marathon   3/ 18     Fun day to run with Jon. Did the "goofy". The half Marathon yesterday and a full today...much easier than a double! Conditions were ideal, group of small runners (mainly Maniacs). Great new friends! Great event!
138 Malibu 11/13/11 Malibu CA 4:14:58 Marathon   148/ 468 46/ 193 10/ 23 A great day to try a double! First time, no head wind at mile 12! Jon started stronger, but I finished stronger! Together we conquered! Even the last hills were ok! Blister and sore Achilles, but ready for my next marathon! Towel and nice medal. Ran much of the race with Sandy from Red Deer. Lots of Maniacs to inspire me! Counter burger and beautiful room at the Marriott after!
137 Santa Barbara 11/12/11 Santa Barbara CA 4:06:38 Marathon 598 330/ 881 104/ 386 9/ 39 Rained so hard the night before, but almost dry at start! Ran with my coat, but not needed. A course that was "meh". Some hills - especially mile 23. Logistics of getting to start and then finish was trricky. We took the $10 shuttle from Double Tree Host hotel, but no one new this option...only 10 on our bus! A Marathon that has some quirks to iron out. Expo was good. Finish at stadium great. Nice blister and sore Achilles.... But felt pretty good.... However, Worried about tomorrow!

Then it was cold and poured rain the first 9 miles. Luckily both Jon and I got stronger in the 2nd half, and enjoyed the run! In N Out and back to the Desert by 2:30!
135 Nike Women's Marathon 10/18/11 San Francisco USA 4:38:12 Marathon         Planned a fun marathon through the city. 1st half had more hills than expected, and although a super casual 1st half, we both bonked earler than we should! Struggled in and still exhausted! Fun times with friends is the only reason to do this. So crowded, mostly a charity run, but great energy and excitement on the run and in Union Square Expo.

No issues and ran healthy. Also, no traffic - all roads closed! A must do...they are focused on helping charities and their community! Nice to see! All that bike training and the elevation from Tahoe must have helped?

A great event and weekend with perfect conditions. Supported Jon and Ron Day 1-2 - great fun, and so inspired by those Triple runners!

131 The Kneeknackering 07/09/11 Vancouver BC 9:14:06 30 mi 58 179/ 203 58/ 67 25/ 29 Pushed me to a limit I have not been! The support really was needed! Great aid and encouragement over the toughest mountain climbing. 3 mountain passes through 8ft of snow and very technical! Almost called it a day at Cleveland dam, if the support wasn't so good! One for the bucket list....and I didn't even know it was on it! A must for the experienced runner! Will I attempt again? Maybe, if I train better!

Bananas and energy drink on the course and good stations. Fans really helped bring us in! A easy one to get to by train from Amsterdam (30mins) and 10:30am start.

124 Lake Waramaug 50k 04/23/11 New Preston CT 5:22:09 50 km 250 24/ 65     How could a run be so beautiful, yet so ugly! The rain, wind and cold was relentless! Add with 3 loops and an out and back at the end from the finish line....I was Happy I didn't give up! Ran by our car 4 times. I have never run a race with two jackets and two pair of pants on ever! But the aid stations - the scenery - the food - the views - all 10/10 Jon pulled me through the wet wet day!

120 Richmond River Run 03/06/11 Richmond BC 4:52:12 Marathon   10/ 13     Scenic, flat, and very little pavement. Loved the out/back course, and a fantastic group of Maniacs to run with! Too bad I had such a disappointing run. My PW, but didn't care about my time...we planned a really slow enjoyable run on the water, but issues told me, I wasn't quite ready/trained to do this. I need more patience! Jon ran with me (again) and great support from volunteers and fellow Maniacs. Hope more Maniacs come and do this next year. I WILL be ready!

Not a great trail runner - plus I was cold for first half! Ran with Jon and Ron #1838. Drove back to Palm Desert.
117 Seattle marathon 11/28/10 Seattle WA 3:51:43 Marathon 1684 648/ 2324 137/ 858 9/ 83 BQ and finished strong. Weather was cool and brisk. Didn't take my jacket of gloves off. A great weekend seeing so many friends and maniacs. Jon did the double marathon and still came in with me.

Wind was fine from mile 12 on, but then came some heat and not enough electrolytes. Jon and I both struggled, but still enjoyed every moment together. Will do again - great finishers towel at the end too!

We were the LAST ones! Start was packed! Bag Drop was pandomium! 6000 runners. But, a fun run with perfect conditions. Aid Stations had fruit and Powerade. Great crowd support, no cobblestone either. Ran with Jon all the way!

So exhausted at the end from heat! Fun to see Ray, Jane, Les, Marie and "Queen" Issues after the run for 1.5hrs. Suprised to see how well I did, all things considering!

Great water stops (cytomax/water labeled) Why do I forget it's so hilly!! It IS!! Our minor injuries didn't bother us! Very happy to pull off a BQ with so many breathing issues these days! Jon stuck with me to the second... <3 He's a keeper!

Lost some steam in the heat in the 2nd half, but still a great run.. Only issue? Mileage marker VERY wrong! and then we found out it was .8 mile short! yeesh! I bonked big big time! 1st half (the hard part) I cruised.. but had to walk it in. Great to see all my maniac friends and family! Thanks Richard and Lorelei!
105 Rotterdam 04/11/10 Rotterdam NL 3:58:43 Marathon   4911/ 7856   98/ 267 BQ but a long day! 8am departure - 6pm arrive back in Amsterdam. Had train ticket problems (jonny type) Then, got to start 8mins late since we couldn't find clothing drop. oh well.... just took off and it was so crowed!! Hard to get through the traffice!Ran strong and passing (since starting 8mins late!) but still felt good! Loved the ehe crisp cool spring air and breeze. Last 8km started having breathing problems. Stopped in chute for a rest! Dizzy! Jon had a tougher run and came in 10 mins behind. Very cold at the end - glad we had a change of clothes!!
104 Utrecht Marathon 04/05/10 Utrecht NL 4:23:48 Marathon   463/ 547   8/ 12 A tought run not sure why! Up at 3am, so maybe jetlag? Race didn't start till 10:30 Very easy to get to by train and the start and finish area right there. Canals and beautiful bands playing (brass) Whether co-operated... I just had no "umph" Breathing issues again.
103 Ocean Drive Marathon 03/28/10 Cape May NJ 4:10:00 Marathon 599 290/ 607 73/ 203 15/ 46 A brutal run for me! Wind, cold (but not as cold as I thought) Had major cramping in calf muscles and couldn't get my breath! Mile 19 I started to feel good... go figure! Jon left me (thankfully) at Mile 6 -- I couldn't keep up. He BQ'd. No gatorade - just water to the 10mile mark!
102 Sun Trust National Marathon 03/20/10 Washington, DC DC 3:51:45 Marathon 199 778/ 2326 149/ 804 11/ 70 BQ - Great fun! A beautiful sunny day! Great support - on course. Had to run past the start (RFK Stadium) at 12 mile, and ran the first 12m with the half marathoners. Ran with Jon the whole way. Almost a negative split! Glad I can still break 4:00!
101 Richmond River Run 03/07/10 Richmond CANADA 4:15:23 Marathon   3/ 7 2/ 3 2 A great day, but finished COLD! After Australia for a month of holidays and easy runs, I was not prepared! Dave, Rick and Jon -- great inaugural event! Medals were the BEST! Thanks Rick! Support was great too! Heather, Richard and other friends kept ups going! A great flat course and didn't worry about getting lost!
100 Maui Oceanfront Marathon (100th) 01/24/10 Lahaina HI 3:59:34 Marathon 100 50/ 218 13/ 90 3/ 9 BQ - 100th Marathon! Thought my 100th might be a bust! 1st half I had to walk the hills! 2nd half got my energy back to do a negative split! Jon stuck with me and running in at the finish to see all my friends with their t-shirts they had made was awesome! 5th in over 40 catagory was a bonus too! Jon's 333rd marathon today too!
99 Honolulu Marathon 12/13/09 Honolulu HI 4:09:09 Marathon 9589 2105 471/ 10043 54/ 828 A great day! Weather was warm, but so much better than last years "lashing" rain. Fireworks were longer than usual in the beginning. Ran with Jon and we watched the last finisher 14 hrs. Talk about inspirational! Great Tech shirts this year too!
98 Seattle Marathon 11/29/09 Seattle WA 3:51:37 Marathon 1538 653/ 2228 152/ 798 11/ 78 BQ - Weather and wind co-operated! Jon was so strong from mile 20 on... we had a great finish together. Krispie creme donut at mile 24 was the best!! Neat to see friends on the course cheer us on and seemed like Jon was famous on the bridge with so many maniacs cheering him on! His 331st marathon!
97 Malibu Inaugural Marathon 11/15/09 Malibu CA 3:57:26 Marathon 215 77/ 330 18/ 128 3/ 16 BQ - Now that was a great Inaugural Event! Well organized and tons of fun! Beach Towel, Medal and lunch box at the finish! Classy! Gorgeous weather and course, but some serious head wind and some hills at the last 5 miles. Lots of Maniacs... why am I suprised?! Very social run so the time flew by. Jon chatted to all the girls...so I kicked his ass (ha ha) Met Brett from Survivor Samoa.
96 Santa Clarita Marathon 11/08/09 Santa Clarita CA 3:58:18 Marathon 95 111/ 357 24/ 114 2/ 18 BQ - Walked out the door from the Hyatt to the start and it finished there too! Well organized. Nice course and lots of paved trail. No hills to speak of, no wind, but full sun so a little "hot". No sponges, but lots of water/gatorade on the course. Fun meeting a maniac couple Haywood and Gloria @ In-N-Out Burger after! Jon and I ran together... his cold slowed him down! Back to the Desert by 3:30pm
95 Brabant 10/25/09 Etten-Leur NL NL 4:08:20 Marathon 429 222/ 276   9/ 13 A cruel race... cobblestone start, two loops of the country and right back to the start line to go again.. then 1/2 marathoners start whizzing by us at the 11km mark... how depressing! A painful finish today... 7:30am left for the train from Amsterdam - back at 6:30pm. Long long day!
