Rocket Man 12/08/07 Huntsville AL 4:05.39 Marathon       11 Hot, humid, and nasty. I ran well until the 15 mile mark. My medication melted in the humidity which meant that I had to make a conscious decision to slow down--bummersville.
Little Rock Marathon 03/06/11 Little Rock AR 4:30:37 Marathon 1003 836/ 1811 253/ 734 33/ 101 Considering that I have medical issues that are going to require some major fiddling with medications in the very near future, I am so very thankful for finishing and not walking. Two potty breaks and lots of hills. Ran the last 10K faster than the first 10K.
Rock and Roll Marathon-Phoenix 01/13/08 Phoenix AZ 4:15:01 Marathon         Sicker than a dog. Got to know each and every port-a-pottie on the course. :( Sadness
Surf City 02/07/10 Huntington Beach CA 4:14:32 Marathon 721     35/ 130 Let's see. Where to begin? I started on antibiotics on Wednesday for bronchitis, an ear infection, and a sinus infection. MY pills that I have to take when I run due to a medical problem? Well...let's jsut say that the baggie developed a hole in it. There I was at mile 12 knowing that I was missing pills at mile 12, 16, 20, and 24. At mile 24.3, I developed severe diarrhea and nausea. I stopped for one looong potty stop and I walked three short times. Mile 24.3-25.1 took me 25 minutes. I was able to finish the last mile strong. Big consolation. Laugh
San Francisco Marathon 07/31/11 San Francisco CA 4:31.30 Marathon 7302 3108/ 4236 818/ 1234 36/ 58 55th Marathon for my 50th birthday. I broke down and cried twice. It is hard to go where Phil and I enjoyed such a nice vacation with the kids. I forgot my jogging bra. I finally can empathize with my man friend runners.
Neujahrsmarathon-New Years Marathoin 01/01/12 Zurich CHE 4:58.42 Marathon 13     1 The hardest marathon I have done in a very long time. The race starts at midnight and participants were head lams. The looped course was comprises of ankle deep mud and jutting rocks that a person could not see

Marine Corp Marathon 10/25/09   DC 4:32.24 Marathon 12065 9783 2951 278 Spent time in the hospital (two and a half days) prior to this marathon. It was a struggle, but with the grace of God, I was able to finish!
Berlin Marathon 09/30/12 Berlin DEU 4:11:24 Marathon 634       I love Berlin. I had a great race, but I couldn't pass anyone. Too many people and no room to maneuver. Still, it was magical.
A1A Marathon 02/17/08 Ft. Lauderdale FL 4:15:37 Marathon         I didn't taper. I won the Jet Blue Most Inspirational Runner. Thank you for voting. Very sore foot!

Paris Marathon 04/15/12 Paris FRA 4:32:35 Marathon       470 I ran this one for my Phil who was a naturalized French citizen who gave all to his adopted country last April. He would have been 45 last week. He is never forgotten, always loved.
Make It by Midnight 07/17/10 Macon GA 4:33:45 Marathon 2 1/ 71 1 1 Wow--very, very, hot, humid, and hilly. I loved the race. One predicts one's finishing time and starts that much before midnight. I started with a generous allotment. The course was really hard. The last two hours were in the total pitch darkness. The average runner runs 30-90 minutes slower than usual. I am sorer than I have been in a really long time!I am woman, hear me roar!
Make It By Midnight Marathon 07/14/12 Macon GA 6:10:03 Marathon     10   Personal worst by far. I fell on the first lap and hyper extended my knee and tore part of my miniscus. I walked most of the second half (all of the last ten). I have never hurt so bad in my life. Went to an orthopedic surgeon and got a brace, but it is going to take awhile to recover. Sadness.
Kona Marathon 06/27/10 Kona HI 4:27:23 Marathon 36 102/ 306 27/ 123   First in Athena and Military categories. This was my St. Jude's Hospital fund raiser. I was not passed from mile 15 on. Very hot and humid. No chips. I started in the back very slowly!

Circular Logic Marathon 03/24/13 West Lafayette IN 4:55:17 Marathon 44       Ran an extra lap due to the glitch in the timing system. 43 minute break due to severe cramping, but I loved this race! I ran a marathon today . While I cruised through the first 20 miles with a smile on my face, I struggled through the next four miles. At times I was on the ground incapacitated by cramps so severe that every nerve and sinew poked up on my legs. Race volunteers wanted to call an ambulance, but I knew that one way or another I could finish the journey. I might have to stop for a while, crawl for a while, walk three miles (I did), or even walk backwards, but I knew that some how, some way my body would make it to the finish line. Maybe a little worse for the wear and tear, but still I could make this journey. Life is like that. I know I want and even expect things to go well. My life often does go well which is why I am surprised when unexplainable hard times happen. Yet, hard times are a fact of life. How we react defines who we are as people. Whether we lie on the ground waiting to be revived so that we can carry on, or whether we give up says a lot about who we are as people. I do not have the internal fortitude to push through pain and tragedy on my own. In my brokenness, I want to raise the white flag of surrender, but somewhere in the black raging sea tentacles that grab me, hands are reached, faith is found, and I stumble yet again to my feet. I look forward only to the next step because to look at the whole journey would be too much to bear. I may lay on the ground crying and unable to get to my feet for awhile, but in the silent corners of my heart, I fall to my faith. It may take awhile, and I may have to crawl or walk awhile, but like today, I find myself running and cruising the placid seas again. While I am not yet in complacency mode, and while I often feel invisible, broken, and like giving up, I know...I believe that God is carrying me on this journey and that I am finding myself. In the process, I am finding joy and purp
Venice Marathon 10/23/11 Venice ITA 4:44.25 Marathon   5094     No gels, water every 5K, gatorade starting at 13.1, but I did it. I loved this race...beautiful! Running very badly right now.

Boston Marathon 04/21/08 Boston MA 4:16:37 Marathon         One 7 minute potty stop--:(
Boston Marathon 04/15/13 Boston MA   Marathon         90 second from the finish line--after I had passed the 26 mile mark, terrorists brought fear back to my life. They seek to maim the human spirit and life, but I stand Boston Strong. The terrrorists have taken far too much from me. I had been invited to run to honor my husband who had been assassinated by a terrorist. No more. Not this girl. I choose to stand stong and I choose to stand up. I am just a simple girl who loves polka dots, God, her country, and her military family. I run on!

Minneapolis Ortho Marathon 06/05/11 Minneapolis MN 4:37:35 Marathon         This race was incredibly hot and humid. I ran it faster than last week and I didn't walk. When I thought about walking, people would recognize me from the newspaper article and start cheering for me. It buoyed me along to the finish.
Run the Ranch Marathon 12/19/10 Springfield MO 4:12:00 Marathon 450       Worst race EVER. Don't do it. I signed up three months early. The start was moved, but this was not communicated via e-mail or at race packet pick-up. The course intersected at two points during each three mile loop. runners were playing chicken with each other. Water tables were not manned after two hours and people stood around the table making it impossible to get to drinks. Cranky!
Mississippi Blues Marathon 01/03/09 Jackson MS 4:19:16 Marathon 111     1 hot, humid, and hilly. I had a rough early winter in terms of hospitalizations, but I started very conservatively and ran a strong second half when everyone else was dying. 2,000 stated--1400 finished!
Missoula Marathon 07/13/08 Missoula MT 4:02.41 Marathon 6     7/ 48 Birthday Marathon. My chip stopped working, so this is the time from the gun to when I was credited with finishing (by hand). I loved this marathon!
Thunder Road Marathon 12/12/09 Charlotte NC 4:17:45 Marathon 122     13 hilly. One five minute potty stop. I felt great. I ran negative splits.

Stars and Stripes Marathon 07/01/12 Beaverton OR 4:30:20 Marathon 59       12 traffic light stops, six bib check stops equals a fast marathon and a slow time. My racing is coming right along. Next up Make it By Midnight Marathon.
