25 Redmond Watershed Trail Marathon 08/28/10 Redmond WA 3:58 Marathon 501 10/50   5/17 Much faster than last time although still room for improvement. Ran 8.7m splits in 75/77/86. Some hamstring action the last round but overall nice smooth race and doing better at running tired (and still enjoying it). Super weather - 60d most of race.
24 First Call Summer Marathon 08/07/10 Bothell WA 3:44 Marathon 706 4/37   2/7 Burke Gilman - super flat. Nice cool day. About 1:46/1:58 with a cramp at 25m. Otherwise ran pretty well. Nice to have all the Maniacs out to cheer each other on with the switchbacks.
23 Light at the End of the Tunnel 07/25/10 North Bend WA 3:52 Marathon 38 10/70     Super views on a blue blue sky day. Early start = avoid heat. Ran my first "equal" split. Nice and easy to enjoy the day.
22 Seattle Rock N Roll 06/26/10 Seattle WA 3:48 Marathon 6247 590/4098   48/240 LOTS of people but managed well. Right at 8:20 pace for first 16-17m but then slowed some. Still, running on aqueduct gives great views of downtown Seattle. Can live without the bridge.
21 Fargo Marathon 05/22/10 Fargo ND 3:55 Marathon 41 606/1885   69/154 Total bonkage. Out in 1:40 feeling good. Got to 15-16 and wall hit. Enjoyed the course and people; a little much through residential vs. parks.
20 Atlanta Marathon 11/26/09 Atlanta GA 3:44 Marathon 392 198/831   21/79 Enjoyed the race and course. Nearly perfect crisp weather 45F. More people out this year. Out in 1:44. Strong until last 8m - leg cramps and slow up and down the hills.
19 Redmond Watershed Trail Marathon 08/29/09 Redmond WA 4:44 Marathon   15/34   7/9 First trail marathon. Learned lots :-). Went out too fast - leading for awhile and took a wrong turn which forced me to go ~ 1/2 mile too far. Turns and hills took a lot out of me. Decided to turn the run into a nature walk - lots of fun people out there to walk/jog with.
18 Seattle Rock N Roll 06/27/09 Seattle WA 3:42 Marathon 5079 646/5646   52/315 Gorgeous warm day with new course. On pace to break 3:40 until last few miles where they add some hills. No walking + No cramping = smiles.
17 Tacoma City Marathon 05/03/09 Tacoma WA 3:58 Marathon 311 90/239   12/21 Strong first half in 1:46 along the water and park - slowed around 15-16 and struggled from 19-20 on home.
16 Seattle Marathon 11/30/08 Seattle WA 3:46 Marathon   482/2128   47/148 Strong through the park; slower along Lake Washington, cramped at top of hill and slow to home. Carter ran with me the last 2 miles but was a slow pacer!
15 Seafair Marathon 06/29/08 Bellevue WA 3:59 Marathon   172/533   21/46 Running over bridge was way overrated. Logistics not worth the headaches. Love finishing in Bellevue Park and going through Kirkland was nice. Heading up the Lake Wash Blvd hill past Carillon not so fun.
14 Paris Marathon 04/08/08 Paris   3:38 Marathon 20142 8079/28844   2999/8707 Amaxing race! Great sites. VERY crowded but it kept me honest with 8:00min pace which I held for about 18 miles. One cramp which cost about 3 mins but overall well run race through beautiful city.
13 Seattle Marathon 11/25/07 Seattle WA 3:42 Marathon   443/2012   47/159 Strong race through the hills. Cramped at 18m but worked through it. Paced with a first-timer.
12 Seafair Marathon 07/08/07 Bellevue WA 4:15 Marathon   217/400   24/32 Temps in the 80s. Started out OK but faded around 17. Really struggled in south Bellevue - not much fun; course needs rework in a major way; lots of cars, no one to cheer you on. No shade.
11 Vancouver Marathon 05/06/07 Vancouver   3:57 Marathon   1170/3077   145/274 rainy but reasonably nice course. Stanley Park a great place to run especially after warehouse district. Hit wall around 22+ after hamstring cramps.
10 Atlanta Marathon 11/23/06 Atlanta GA 3:48 Marathon 101 175/575   29/62 MUCH better this go around. Started out coldish but definitely warmed during day. Cramped at usual time (m21) but stuck it out the last few miles on the hills.
9 Seafair Marathon 06/21/06 Bellevue WA 3:59 Marathon   172/550   17/54 First time with this course and it needs lots of work. Area down by south Bellevue is really lonely. Typical pattern with ~20m in good shape followed by sad finish.
8 Portland Marathon 10/09/05 Portland OR 3:47 Marathon   1215/7201   202/368 Good start and got through bridges. Found a strong pack around 10 and stayed with them until almost 20. Some struggles near the end but overall good effort amidst a lot of people. Flay and cool. OK views of city.
7 Dublin Marathon 10/25/04 Dublin   4:03 Marathon   3317/8571   474/619 rainy windy day (go figure). Nice run through Phoenix Park and Guinness but hit wall hard around 20-21 with leg cramp. Nice and easy the last few miles.
6 Northwest Olympic Discovery Marathon 06/13/04 Sequim WA 4:14 Marathon   198/365   40/51 very pretty course and didn't do it justice. started out well but cramped severely about mile 18. Hobbled in among the expansive views of the Sound.
5 Seattle Marathon 11/30/03 Seattle WA 3:49 Marathon   584/1975   80/140 rainy and windy. Did well through the park and into the Arboretum.
4 Atlanta Marathon 11/23/00 Atlanta GA 4:17 Marathon   503/779   91/129 really tough race and first time with these hills. out too fast and hit wall hard. major leg cramps. did not hydrate well.
3 Seattle Marathon 11/28/99 Seattle WA 4:21 Marathon         First time on this course. Slow day. Cold, rainy and miserable.
2 Marine Corps Marathon 10/25/94 Washington D.C DC 4:12 Marathon         Not as fun the second time around. Windier, especially in unprotected areas. Ending on the freeway seemed like a real downer after the first 16-18 miles with great views.
1 Marine Corps Marathon 10/25/93 Washington D.C DC 3:51 Marathon         First time - super course through downtown DC. Support from the Bagle Brigade. Made it without walking which was the only goal I had. Slow down by Hanes Point.
