Nice goodies bags filled with many useful treats, police escorts much of the way ensuring our safety. Pleny of food after the race for all. And wonderful awards for those placing! Race director Lilly is terrific! Runners received a wonderful welcoming and we all were very much appreciated. Way to go Lilly!

Circumstances caused a little disruption to the course however Steve diligently found another way to make a route for us all to enjoy. Medals, shirts, fun...he didn't miss a beat! Thank you Steve for a delightful weekend in Oregon!

This course is well marked and ran mostly on a bike path. Large assortment of food following the race and more than enough for all marathon finishers.

124 Casper 06/03/12 Casper WY   Marathon 19       I get #19 which brought me back home after just spending time there with many friends! Ran with someone very special in my heart today. Crossed the finish line as I saw magical #'s I hoped to reach but was not successful for the full marathon clock however was there big as life as I viewed the 1/2 marathon clock. So in a way, I knew the presence of one was with me. This marathon was better altitude then most in this state. The finish is at the host hotel and what a wonderful spread they put out! Plenty of celebrating going on!
123 Memorial Marathon 05/27/12 Lenox MA   Marathon 16     1/ 1 Always enjoy a chance to get to visit with family and friends in NY and this is less than 1 hour from where I grew up so took extra time to travel around and visit much and many! Beautiful scenery in the charm of this New England town. Unique finisher medals beign personalized dog tags. Welcoming cheers coming down the home stretch as I received 1st in my age group. Fabulous announing John who researched much on so many bringing smiles to all who crossed that finish line! Enjoyed running with a 1st time marathoner who I'm trying to sway into the asylum!

121 Lake Perry 05/12/12   KS   50 km 2002       ROCK on Lake Perry summed it up perfectly. Very rocky and tricky spots. Plenty of hills but all doable. Had fun regardless of this being one of the most difficult I've encountered due to rocks and roots. Great sharing these miles with John Dietrich. Photos taken on the course available to download and print for free.
120 Backside Trail 04/29/12 Lousiville KY   Marathon 152       What a fabulous delight adding this trail run to "Double Down" for the weekend! Race director was terrific and provided Xtra shirt for those who doubled this. Great North Face shirt with nothing advertised! First time I ever received a Growler as my finisher award! I always enjoy something different! Nice cotton T in honor of doubling. Will come back. The trail was a double loop for the full marathon not to technical and marked pretty well. I'll do it all again and consider doubling it with CMM next year.
119 Kentucky Derby 04/28/12 Louisville KY   Marathon 8627       Had so much fun with fellow 50 Staters and Maniacs! Disappointed as the race director promised to leave the course open longer in order for some to offically finish however the course was closed down and the time clock picked up. I've never liked the shirt and this year was no exception. The trail run the next day was the highlight!

117 Andrew Jackson Marathon 03/31/12 Jackson TN   Marathon 218       Hot, Humid, Hills with plenty of sunshine made this marathon more challenging. Starting and finishing on the campus of Union University. Pretty course some on roads with traffic and no shoulder of the road. Plentiful aid station and gracious volunteers offered water, gatorade and orange slices. Grand Masters Winner! There are showers provided at the college as well.
116 Greenway marathon 03/25/12 Nashville TN   Marathon 505       At less than $1 per mile this marathon can't be beat. Pretty scenery on a bike path but be forewarned...tn does not disappoint on hills. Out and back course with no car traffic however bicyclists later in the morning. Aid stations stocked with water, Gatorade, cookies and oranges approx every 3 miles. No shirts but there is a medal. Gun time only. It was hot this year.
115 Tobacco Road 03/18/12 Cary NC   Marathon 114       Wonderful out and back course on mostly hard packed dirt trail. Aid stations were plentiful with energetic volunteers. Host hotel did not offer shuttle service to the race which is about a 20 minute drive. It does offer complimentary airport shuttle about 5 miinutes away. Host hotel offered a few 1:00pm checkouts otherwise charges extra.

This race had the most amazing energetic volunteers smiling I have ever come across! Enjoyed sharing much of this journey with George Southgate sharing his jokes.

110 26.2 with Donna 02/12/12 Jacksonville FL   Marathon 1121       BRRRrrrrrr! 23 degrees at race start! Logistics of getting to the start were troublesome but the course more than made up for it. The aid stations were plentiful and the most celebratory neighborhoods thrilled to have you running in their community were evident! On this incredible chilling day the volunteers were the heros! Smiles, cheers, food...they were amazing! Nice shirt and drawstring bag. Being cold the after party was scarce however they ran out of food anyhow. Enjoyed sharing miles with Greg Gobel, Jeff Chaney and special thank you to Maniac Bryan Cichon for rejoining me (after he completed his run) pulling me through the horrible hill at the end. All in all .... a fun weekend we'll talk about for some time!

106 Disney World 01/08/12 Orlando FL   Marathon 23426       Always a magical adventure! Ran the Goofy challenge and for some reason felt worse than running a double marathon. Running into the theme parks is special in itself and even more so when characters are present for wonderful photo opportunities. I did stay off property and found it very easy getting to the start as I was dropped off closest to the corrals. This was wonderful as the start is 5:30 am and I enjoyed the extra sleep time! But sad I missed the 4:00am Maniac photo :(

102 St Jude Memphis Marathon 12/03/11 Memphis TN   Marathon 36       Shared the joy of this event pacing with fellow Maniac Arland Blanton. Well organized event with plentiful aid stations. The course is pretty scenic running by the river and very emotional running through the St. Jude Children's hospital. Also a couple miles in the zoo where the cheer sections are energetic! The finish in the AAA baseball stadium is pretty cool...except to exit having to climb up the stairs. Food was plentiful and free showers are offered in their locker rooms. I hope to be back pacing for a 3rd year!
101 Flying Monkey 11/20/11 Nashville TN   Marathon 100       Soggy Monkey got the better of me this year! Still the event is a favorite by far with many thanks to "Monkey Trent" for his creativity! Enjoyed sharing the miles with Jeff Venable as we reached the finish of my 100th 26.2 & then some!. Thank you Phil Minn for sharing your savored # with me. A total surprise!

While on the top of the Verrazano tripped on a discarded trash bag..major fall but missed being trampled which equals a successful run in my book! Wonderful seeing friends from high school on the course as well as many Maniacs!
97 Marine Corps 10/30/11   VA   Marathon 18025       Thank you Lien for a most enjoyable visit! MCM is one of my favorite marathons as the sight seeing along the course is wonderful. Very crowded yet I was able to "run" into Glenn right from the very start and share many miles and smiles along the way together. Lucky with the weather this year.
96 Screaming Pumpkin 10/28/11 Peoria IL   Marathon 7       Enjoyed the tricks and treats of this marathon with Annette! What a SCREAM!!! Gobblings, Ghosts and spooks filled the course in the cemetary. This race began at 6pm and you turned into a pumpkin should you finish after midnight! No watches, GPS, or any timing devices allowed. Object was to finish closest to midnight! I came in 2nd! Wonderful Mizuno jackets, gloves, long sleeve tech shirt, tiara's and wand ...or a pumpkin. This trail type marathon is fun and challenging along paths lighted up with glow sticks.

A very nice course running through nice neighborhoods and onto Drake University completing a lap around their track. Aid stations plentiful as well as port-a-potties! Very impressed. Enjoyed sections of out and backs cheering on fellow Maniacs. Especially mile 14 with Kerri H. as we celebrated with a toast to the Yankee's not being in the World Series with a Yankee's fan handing out adult beverages. High fived Ed Loy completing his 1st double! Nice job Ed! Post race event included complimentary massages that I really didn't have to wait long for and plenty of food and drink! Congratulations Karrie G for earning another star..twinkling brighter. Had a wonderful time with the Maniac ladies again! Carol G, Carol E, Karrie G and half fanatic Laura made this adventure one to talk about for a long time!!! HOWDY!

Wonderful to meet up with Annette and her son Joe who offered wonderful course support and a coke along the trails. 89 Adirondack Marathon 09/25/11 Schroon Lake NY   Marathon 35       A beautiful course! 1st half offered most of the hills. Be sure to have bug spray! An early start was offered regardless of finish time which I was glad I took advange of as it did get unseasonably hot this year! Run around the beautiful Schroon Lake and finish along side a beach entrance where many of indulged in jumping in. Lovely area, plenty to see as the Adirondack balloon festival is also going on at this time. A trip into Bolton Landing and Lake George were also wonderful stops!

Course is mostly flat with well stocked aid stations and most friendly volunteers! Beautiful neighborhoods we ran thru. Met Robert "Bob" running his 193rd marathon. After talking and running with him I anticipate he too will be joining this wonderful Maniac family! Bob took a terrible fall. I left him as the ambulance arrived. Thrilled to hear he was able to continue and completed his 194th marathon! The medals are nice, long sleeve tech shirt is pretty and the marathon maniac medal is AWESOME! Very well organized
87 Do-Wacka-Do 09/10/11 Erick OK   50 km 79       WOW! Highlights enough to last me a lifetime here! A real shotgun start where I did the honor of starting the race!!! The morning of I took the bait from the race director to bump up to the 50 miler to run for the Queen of the Road award! Haha....well, way too hot and sunny with aid stations every 5 miles were not the best conditions for this gal! I did attempt the 50 miles after reaching the 50K finish. Out alone on this trail I realized it would be very dark soon...coyotes, rattlesnakes...Nope, I began to have my doubts. Continuing on the journey I struggled, became lightheaded along with a bloody nose knew my demise was approaching ... Reaching race director I inquired if I would receive credit for the 50K..."Absolutely!" "Will you continue?" With little hesitation ... "Absolutley NOT!" Returning to the finish I was informed everyone but myself and 1 gentleman quit at either the 25K or 50K. Race director was great and overall I did have a "Blast!"
86 Tupelo 09/04/11 Tupelo MS   Marathon 19       Had a blast running in the rain and enjoying this marathon with Jeff Venable and Shelly as we trampled in puddles and hurdled the road kill! This was another fun time and enjoyable weather in MS. Won "Miss Ice Princess" award presented with a photo of me "icing" after Blister in the Sun Marathon! Thank you Phil Min~ love the award ceremony each year!! And beautiful cake too!
85 Timmy's Challenge 08/28/11 Cairo WV   Marathon 178       * A well run inaugural event on a beautiful FLAT trail of crushed rock. Seems to be my year to run in tunnels (dark yet very COOL!) Offered and early start however no aid would be provided. ( I arrived for the regular start) Aid stations had cold water, some gatorade, GU and cookies. Enjoyed sharing this event with many Maniac friends new and old in this small town. Highlights were chatting with Angela Ivory as she completed her 299th marathon! They promise to make next year even better. Cute tee cotton ss tee shirt and medals.
84 Fallsburgh 08/20/11 Lowell MI   Marathon 42     10 The challenge to see if you are one tough old fart....I am! Each year the course is changed with this years 1st half being extremely more challenging than last years according to a few groups of runners I encountered who have done this race 3 years in a row. They wished me luck on the 2nd half known for being even more daunting than the 1st half. This trail run did not disappoint in challenging trails. This race director does have a sense of humor and a sadistic side when it comes down to designing a course. Pleny of swag for every runner as well as food following the race. Very challenging fun weekend spent with wonderful people.
83 Blister in the Sun 08/07/11 Cookeville TN   Marathon       1 Certainly did NOT disappoint! Hence the name...left with Blisters! 5 loop course required mental challenge to continue another lap. Great group of runners, fabulous volunteers, awesome bibs and terrific award...a cast iron skillet! Cooked in Cookeville! Glad I challenged myself taking this one on and finished! Double weekend with double 1st place sex/age group winner. Yes, there were some in my age group!
82 Eagle Creek Trail Marathon 08/06/11   IN   Marathon 81     1 A very challening double loop course. Tight trail shared with 15K & 1/2 runners very congested. Ran out of water at 2 aid stations. PW= age group winner, Really? Nice shirt and unique medal. Enjoyed laughing with many Maniac friends was a blast!
81 Light at the End of the Tunnel 07/24/11 North Bend WA   Marathon 80       What a beautiful course! I enjoyed running through an underground tunnel, running high above the tree tops, and running with many in the Maniac family. Our Maniac volunteers and race director did a nice job with a well marked course, plentiful aid stations, and a nice medal. Ended up being a warm days run but enjoyable along this trail. Great meeting many Maniacs I had not yet met during my running journey. Perk and surprise hearing Tony's voice announcing my name as I crossed the finish. Regret I had to leave so soon afterwards. I had fun!
80 Full mOOn run 07/16/11 Perrysville AR   50 km 79       Another adventure! Extremly hot, humid, hills, dirt roads with copperhead snakes and even spotted a bobcat...another runner told me it was a mountain lion. Whatever this run was it did provide me with some tremendous stories of finishing a most challenging course. 2 unattended aid stations of water and 2 attended, well stocked aid stations most appreciated. Race support shuttled a pick up truck full of young men back to the start making this old woman feel a major accomplishment crossing that finish line. Thank you Winston for the encouraging support which was appreciated more than you realize.
79 Mad Marathon 07/10/11 Waitsfield VT   Marathon 701       * Ran by the VonTrapp family farms and my mantra was..."The HILLS are alive with the sound of music!" A very beautiful area on a very challenging course! Really a blast visiting and running with many Maniacs! Volunteers were wonderful as was the race director!
78 Carmel Indiana 06/11/11 Carmel IN   Marathon 4561       * A very nice Inaugural Marathon running along a bike path and beautiful neighborhoods. A humid day and even a rain shower. I registered early and was disappointed to hear of discounts being offered within a few months of the marathon date which I was unable to take advantage and would have made my entry cheaper had I waited.
77 NJ Trail Series 06/05/11 Watchung Reservation NJ   Marathon 309       A beautiful trail run. Plenty of rocks. Not much in the way for hills. Only water offered along the way except when returning to the start of a 3 time loop. Pleaseant race director! Nice tech shirt. Did manage to get lost a few times but still a fun experience the entire way!
76 Memorial Day Marathon 05/29/11 Lenox MA   Marathon 12       A very beautiful course! Love the personalized dog tag medals. Course offered plenty of water stations but water and gatorade were all that were served. Enjoyed running with Martha, Jonathan and Rob Young. I'll run this one again!
75 Scenic city trail marathon 05/21/11 Chattanooga TN   Marathon 95       A beautiful trail marathon with plenty of rocks, tree routes, tricky spots, snakes and maniacs taking advantage of the fun. Fell too many times to count. Wonderful seeing fellow Maniacs and Half Fanatics on this trip!
74 Capon Valley 50K 05/07/11 Yellow Springs WV   50 km 8       The toughest run I've ever done to date! Thank you Glenn MM 3535. And congratulations on that 5th star! Volunteers at the aid stations were wonderful and food was plentiful. The scenery was breathtaking. Crossing over 30 streams on an extremley well marked trail. The trail had a bit of everything...everything challenging! We perservered, finished without injury and still had smiles crossing that finish line.
73 Gettysburg North-South 05/01/11 Gettsyburg PA   Marathon         * Inaugural event was very nice. Extremely challenging hilly course which was well marked. Scenic however in country roads type of way not historic sightseeing. Enjoy that before or after the race. Water and aid stations plentiful however without food or fruit offered. Nice tech shirts, neat theme as well as awards. Enjoyed running with Maniac Russ as well as taking plenty of photos. If it were a sunny day...things would have been worse as the open roads do not provide shade. Rain feel shortly after crossing the finish line. Charming town with plenty to see over the weekend for history buffs.
72 Country Music Marathon 04/30/11 Nashville TN   Marathon         Enjoyed the new course even with additional hills. It was another hot one. I had been coaching Team Rio runners for this very event. Came upon one of my runners vomitting due to dehydration. After mile 21 there were medic tents that did NOT have water. Actually there were more bands on the course at that point than water stations. Finally ran to next aid station taking a bag of ice to bring back to my runner. Walked the remainder of the course with her sucking on ice chips. But for me the real race was rushing to the airport in time to catch my flight to run Gettysburg the next day.

70 Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon 04/03/11 Knoxville TN   Marathon 86       Most enjoyable race sharing miles with Diana Burton, Jim Simpson, Eric Johnson and his brother who once finished this marathon became a MANIAC! He has the spirit! Thanks Eric for great conversation. I needed something to distract me from all the hills! Steep hills! Very friendly town, lovely neighborhoods we ran in. Loved the host hotel Holiday Inn being right at the start! Market Square was the place to dine which I shared a wonderful meal with Diana Burton at Oodles uncorked.
69 Greenway Marathon 03/27/11 Nashville TN   Marathon 405       Love the charm of a small town marathon. Course follows a bike path with a few major hills. Cross some pretty pedestrian bridges. Heard someone stole some of the directional signs along the course but for the most part was all along this pedestrian friendly path. Aid stations had everything you needed. Race director Tomas and his wife extremely friendly on this chilly windy day. Great seeing Joe Donnelly cross the finish line and welcoming him to the Maniac family!
68 Tobacco Road 03/20/11 Cary NC   Marathon 114       Flat & very nice hard packed dirt trail. Aid stations plentiful with Water, Sports drinks, Gu and Chomps. Issues with shuttle buses delayed start. Shuttle bus issues for return trip as well. Food post race was plentiful. Nice medal and pink shirts for women. However I seem to notice a trend that half marathon shirts are always prettier. Host hotel was extremely close to the airport.
67 Cowtown 02/27/11 Fort Worth TX   Marathon 1357       Enjoyable town! Pretty humid windy day but the fun of this race made up for it. Running through the stockyards was wonderful! I took plenty of pictures along the way. Loved the neighbors who came out in support of the runners with food, beverages and signs! Fun crowd to run with. Nice medal...need to collect more to get another star! Great finisher shirts too!! I'll be back to Cowtown!!
66 Mercedes Marathon 02/13/11 Birmingham AL   Marathon 674       Double Loop course. Had a fun time as the volunteers and spectators provided cheers, beverages, fruit and beads. Beautiful medal and included a hat upon finishing. After party was plentiful. Enjoyed meeting thhe Balloon Lady! Very well organized and will do this one again!

Last 6 miles were the longest of an out and back where the highlight was looking for fellow 50 State/Maniacs to high-five. Wonderful volunteers and plentiful water stations. Had fun with fellow Maniacs!

61 Athens Classic 10/31/10 Athens   4:58:03 Marathon 7844       2500th Anniversary year!!! The shouts of "BRAVO! BRAVO!" were incredible! The Athenians are wonderfully supportive to every runner. Amazing the many countries represented! The course is marked in all metric. Full size water bottles were plentiful however the course was littered with caps & bottles practically full. Plenty of food and energy gels available. Frequent aid stations and eager to assist volunteers. A tremendous time on a course which was a bit challenging. BRAVO to the Athenians!
60 Baltimore 10/16/10 Baltimore MD   Marathon 432       Great town with plenty to see and do. Great running weather. Enjoyed the spectators offering many treats along the course. Snickers, heathbars, sweedish fish, lollipops, jolly ranchers, candy corn, M&M's, beer, ...yep, enjoyed it all. Great transportation system from airport to downtown area made for an easy and inexpensive commute. Beautiful medal for the 10th Anniversary! Congrats Shannon on your 1st 1/2 of a double fun weekend. Glad to share some of it with you! Congrats to Kathy for shining a bit brighter!
59 Mohawk Hudson River 10/10/10 Albany NY   Marathon 131       Loved it! Will come back again! Started in Central Park in Schenectady where my grandparents took me as a kid. Ran right by the Purple Pub where we "carbo loaded" the night before. Hard not stopping in to enjoy. Wonderful weather on a wonderful bike path course. Plenty of picture taking on this journey with friends and family along the course! Shaker High School had the best volunteers including my former gymnastic coach. She knew me right away recalling my days on the uneven bars. Also enjoyed sharing this journey with some completing their 1st marathon. Congratulations to Donna and Jeff! Always fun being in your company!

We may be inspiring them in their own physical fitness journey. This weekend was filled with wonderful moments shared with so many. The course was scenic in areas. Running by the zoo and Rosenblatt field. The rodeo was in town during this time and made for a fun time in Omaha. Honored to be part of the "Jack and Diane" team. Thank you Dr. John! "Oh yeah...life goes on.."

Half marthoners received only the glass. Great running into fellow Tennessean Maniacs Cathy & Troy again! Downpour at mile 18. Cool Oktoberfest shirt, mug, medal made for a fun time with friends on this trip!

After indulging in huckleberry shakes back at our motel...the storms hit! All in all a beautiful day running enjoyed with friends.

50 Marathon to Marathon 06/12/10 Storm Lake IA   Marathon 2       The Marathon that almost didn't happen. Storms delayed this race for 1 1/2 hours. Race director was wonderful wanting to get it in as bad as we all did. Long flat roads, wide open spaces & no shade once the sunshine appreared. But most happy as we all accomplished what we set out to do...RUN. Thought of Mark Swanson and his successful achievement! #50
