1 Maseru Marathon 01/17/81 Maseru Lesotho, Africa 4:16:00 Marathon         Ha...I was only 27 then. Only meant to run a half marathon but felt so good at the turn around I continued. Hit wall at 20...brute-forced it in.
2 Kovsie Marathon 08/15/80 Bloemfontein South Africa 4:17 Marathon   129/ 130     First ever marathon, at age 26. Ran a 4:17 and only beat one guy, such is the quality of African runners. I was the only American.
3 Wisconsin Marathon 05/04/13 Kenosha WI 4:17:04 Marathon 380 486/ 902   13/ 28 A PR for this era and the second fastest ever. Tried a new plan and it worked. See blog for details!
4 Portland Marathon 10/01/06 Portland OR 4:21:01 Marathon         Awesome race. My first "big" marathon. Met a Michelle, Eric, Rob, Olga, Patch and other Maniacs for the first time.
5 Sunburst Marathon 06/01/13 South Bend IN 4:26:58 Marathon 137 278/ 490 192/ 309 6/ 15 Wonderful event, again, on the ND campus. Many fond memories of Dad. Surprised to go under 4:30 on a humid day.
6 Chicamauga Battlefield Marathon 11/10/12 Ft. Oglethorpe GA 4:27:35 Marathon   326/ 530   22/ 33 Really nice race...perfect day allowed for a sub 4:30, the first in 6+ years.
7 St Louis Marathon 04/09/06 St. Louis MO 4:29:33 Marathon         My first marathon since 1981. Hills were a bear. But I made it...amazingly.

17 Sunburst Marathon 06/06/09 South Bend IN 4:46:41 Marathon 165 470/ 596 344/ 410 25/ 31 Small, simple marathon. Awesome finish, though, at 50 yd line of Notre Dame Stadium. Good to have a 6:00am start...it got hot by end.

22 Maple Leaf Indoor Marathon 02/23/13 Goshen IN 4:50:09 Marathon   21/ 30     204 laps. Well organized. Tough on legs for last 3 miles. Reminded me that marathons are hard!

24 Rocket City Marathon 12/05/07 Huntsville AL 4:56:16 Marathon         Hot, humid..even in December. Lsst 10 miles were a real grind. I went out too fast for conditions.

28 Heritage Trail Marathon 10/02/11 West Lafayette IN 5:18:13 Marathon 147 38/ 46   6/ 8 Perfect weather! Ran negative split. Best finish ever in a marathon.
29 Illinois Marathon 05/01/10 Urbana IL 5:23:07 Marathon 624 1559/ 1792 1047/ 1163 50/ 62 surprisingly humid day. Got nauseous around mile 18, struggled home. Legs felt great, though.
30 Chicago Marathon 10/10/10 Chicago IL 5:40:40 Marathon 19822 29943/ 36159 17459/ 19769 710/ 865 Brutal heat made the 2nd half tough. Severe calf cramps after mile 23. Good event, otherwise!

34 Indian/Celina Challenge 06/09/12 Tell City IN 5:58:59 Marathon 2505 31/ 34 21/ 23   Hilly trail course in Hoosier National Forest. Tough race but finished strong
35 Illinois Fat Ass 50K 01/09/11 McNabb IL 6:23:21 50 km   17/ 20     First ever 50K. Wonderful experience. Felt strong at the end.
36 HUFF 50K Trail Race 12/29/12 Albion IN 6:36:42 50 km         Wonderful day in the snowy woods. Great run.
37 KalHaven Trail Race 03/24/12 Kalamazoo MI 6:48:24 33.5 mi 212       Perfect day to run. Improved on last years time by almost 30 minutes. R calf and L ITB hurt over last 7 miles.
38 Kal-Haven 33.5 mile Trail Race 03/26/11 Kalamazoo MI 7:17:51 33.5 mi 61 58/ 65 42/ 42 8/ 8 well organized race. Went well thru 30 but not enough training miles to go 33...last 4 miles were tough.
39 HUFF 50K 12/17/11 Albion IN 7:33:44 50 km 117 250/ 312   15/ 19 Brutal second lap...mud, water knee-deep. Made it. Learned a lot and not all about running.
